Sick And Tired Of The Stigma

HIV/AIDS AWARENESS: THE STIGMA BETWEEN THE GOVERNMENT AND THE YOUTHS

As what we could see on the TV, soap operas and adult-themed shows have been an influence among the teens and the young adults in this generation. The talks and ideas about romance have been common to the teenagers these days. Regardless of age, a lot of youths today entered into premarital sex. I personally believe that media contributes a greater piece of the portion of shaping the minds of our youths with regards to the matter.
So what could the government possibly do about this? With the years passed, HIV and AIDS cases grow and if left unchecked, this could become a major problem in the country. Nevertheless, the government is doing something to cut down the growing statistics of HIV and AIDS cases in the Philippines. I find it helpful that there are certain agencies that raise the awareness of the issue to the young population. However, I do think that though sex education is a delicate and sensitive topic, learning about the matter at an early age is a must.
Prevention is better than cure they say. With this, I thought it might be better if the government would introduce the topic to the young adults at school and do countermeasures like distribution of condoms among teens. Though it may seem absurd, the government should do something to alleviate the stigma that goes around the HIV and AIDS awareness campaign.
We are now in a millennium where moral standards have been twisted and are constantly shaped according to the new trends in society. Thus, I find it a must that the government should push further in educating the society about the issue. The school is the first round that could hand out information and knowledge. Also, schools could be the best platforms to implement awareness drive. The government should break from being tied down to what is “morally right” and “morally wrong” issues but rather prioritize the well-being of its citizens. Although there’s not yet any produced medicine to cure AIDS, I believe the numbers of HIV and AIDS cases can lower down in the long run if the government continues its consistency in eliminating the problem.
